This reminds me. We live in the country and our neighbor across the street is a widow. We are her first line of defense. She calls late one night and tells us someone is trying to get in her house. My husband grabs a gun and heads for the truck. Meanwhile, I tell her to hang up and call 911. She gets them on the phone and they explain it's the cops trying to get her to answer the door. There'd been a death in the family and they needed to contact her. Of course the husband shows up next door packing while they're still on the phone with her. Thankfully they're used to local culture and don't freak out. When the nearest town is 15 minutes drive, your neighbor is definitely going to get there first.
