How to defend against sets?

The guy showed me TT and I was dead to 2 outs. All the lines suggested
in this thread would only have gotten the money allin quicker than I did,
and would have lost the whole stack too.
How do you defend against sets then? I recall seeing a Brian sbrugby
video where he discussed aggressively betting non premium hands to
protect your really good ones, but his explanation was not so clear.
