Re: No more Jman on Cardrunners?
Just for the record: Being a successful HU-specialist doesn't say anything about your ring-game.
In fact even the pokertracker statistics can be misleading, because in PT the aggression-factor stands for the ratio between raising and folding. If you cap every street and then fold the river, Poker Tracker will tell you that you are the most aggressive player on earth.
Just go and watch the video on CR. He flops 2 pair and folds the river after a blocking bet and a minraise getting 4:1, because the opponent might have hit a gutshot on the turn. Basically he gives every opponent credit for having the stone cold nuts ALL the time. If that doesn't define a nit, what else does?
Usually I don't put much value in the outcome of a session, because it is just a small sample, but the way he played in this video, he had to lose and it is no wonder that he did. It is impossible to win if you fold all the time.
Since I don't expect him to be such a weak player and rather like to see him as a smart hustler, I do question the integrity of this self-display. It makes a lot of sense for him to create the image of a guy that is very easy to run over. Nobody will expect him to float a single hand after watching this. The image he created in this video is the one of a player I want to see in my game. He raises pot preflop, 2/3 on the flop and folds to a minraise = perfect world! Why can't everyone play like that?
Another thing for the record: Taylor is the guy I would fear at the table, because you never know with him. He bets the nuts and he makes moves with nothing. That's the style that scares the [censored] out of me, not this raise-raise-great_laydown-stuff shown by Jman.
