The King Kong line was cheese, but the result of that scene was what made no sense. The ghetto rises up against the corrupt cop, shoots him, and then lets him go for reasons that are completely unexplained.
jtr- The Wizard of Oz is obviously the better use of a color/BW switch. It's the best use ever.
Memento is a pretty decent recent one, though.
Fight Club is not even close to a "great film." If you think about the twist the entire movie falls apart, it's not real cleverness.
