i think i would fold preflop (high five curtains) or raise to steal the blinds/steal the pot with a flop cbet. this hand just isnt that valuable with 40BBs.
i also think you should raise the flop (dont jam, raise to some amount thats clearly pot committing. or jam. whatever. theres like 700 in the pot when it gets to you and you only have 1850 left in your stack). here, you got really lucky that he made a bet on the turn that gave you the possibility of fold equity, but most of the time hes just going to pot commit himself on the turn... so i think in general you're going to be much better off sticking it in on the flop where you can give him a chance to fold a better hand.
