Well, you said that to you it's pretty much standard. We can argue over semantics, but to me that's more or less the same thing as saying it's universal.

And I've worked for several corporations and I've definitely seen it happen. However, as The Diablo mentioned, it's simply another form of favoritism. The good old boy network is still alive and well.
