This is my default answer to where the money comes from:

When u flip a coin u have a 50/50 chance to win/lose.
If u play for $1/flip and you flip about 100 times you'll be close to +/- 0.

All i do is searching for people who pay me $2 when i win the flip but only want $1 if they win.

9/10 people understand it.

This is a very good analogy that I'll try to keep in mind next time anybody gives me [censored].

Maybe the people I talk to are just [censored] at math, but whenever I try the simple +EV coinflip analogy, I end up with nods and then a follow-up "Ok, but still you should quit before you lose it all." Trying to explain to someone like this that your RoR is not 100% in a +EV game is pointless.
