Well, I guess this shows that he's not a nit. Also, you have to consider that he is very deepstack and is up against a bad player that he is comfortable playing postflop against. You can't be so rigid with preflop hands.

Also, I tend to play a looser style (semi-LAG) and I can definitely tell you that having a wider preflop range makes stacking regs that can't fold overpairs really easy.
