If you ever go to Outback you'll know what they're talking about--and at least they warn you before hand.

Anyway...I order medium in a restaurant. However, when I cook at home I usually like it closer to the rare side, so I guess I'm going to switch to medium-rare for restaurants.

Yeah, obviously most crappy places overcook, so then you get the places that like overcompensate to show they're not crappy by totally undercooking. WTF just cook it *right* it's a freaking steak it's not that hard. It makes it tricky to order cuz you either have to guess which way they error or you have to act like a douchebag to the waiter and be like "I want my steak medium rare, but if I order it like that is it gonna be overdone?" which only leads to problems.
