Some of my biggest wins have come by playing sort of passively while a bunch of somewhat knowledgeable but drunk friends tried to fancy play each other right into my nuts and near-nuts.
Some of most miserable poker experiences have come while watching a friend or relative play poorly at the same table. It's a distraction to see someone you care about throw away money.
