Get a revolver, take classes... then get a 9mm. You'll end up with a reliable weapon in the revolver, and the glock you seem to want anyway. I don't believe you will ever have to worry about shooting an actual person. Goober breaks in, you let a couple rounds go, and even if you are upstairs this character is leaving. There are just too many easy targets out there for him to be re-enacting the shootout at O.K. corral with you.
