I asked a doctor friend if 'roids was a possible cause of death for Kirby Puckett. He said it was possible, including contributing to glaucoma, although Puckett had enough problems to cause this without juice. His speculation is Puckett natuarally had high blood pressure and just didn't take care of himself. Even when he played, he was too big. Then after he retired, he just let his body go way too far, raising his blood pressure too high to live. It's also likely he had diabetes, which shortens a lifespan considerably in itself.

To recap, is steroids a possible cause of death for Kirby Puckett? Yes. Is it likley that he had other health problems that are far more likley to have caused his death? Yes. Should we vilify Puckett as a 'roider? No.
