Having never participated in this drama, only having observed it for the past year, I can assure you that she is not adopting a character, she is that character. It's her. How do I know without having met her or Ed? She's a clone of my brother's first wife, someone who is very sincere in her beliefs, knows all the answers, likes to tell you those answers, never wants to hear the other side, is smugly morally superior, and here's the important part, IS NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER WRONG. Anyone who tells her she is is literally performing an intellectual assault on her entire being, just as much as if they had physically attacked her. In her mind, there is no difference between the two.

I used to sit and watch my former sister-in-law sit around with her friends and they would smugly look down their noses at whatever group disagreed with them, not believing that THOSE people could possibly be anything but pure evil. Nary a dissenting voice could be found among this group, yet the hypocricy was all there if you listened even more than five minutes. It was as intellectually as stiffling as any fundamentalist Christian revival meeting, where any dissenting opinion was dealt with in a brutal collective assault. I quickly learned that you either agreed with them or kept your mouth shut if you want things to remain civil. Can't tell you how happy I was for my brother when he sent her back to the US permanently after trying to turn himself into something he wasn't.

Can't say this is Elaine, but all the signs are there. Her type is not all that uncommon, just hang around college campuses where they have feminist studies or social work programs. Odds are, there are hundreds of clones just like this. If that's your type, fine, but I've learned to steer clear, as long as they steer clear of me.

Okay, how long until I get on Elaine's "evil" list? Someone want to give me an over/under?
