Re: August Low-Content Thread
I was having a horrible time of it tonight at CAZ's 40 (unlike SOME people I know who can drag a monster pot w/ 9-6o and get to make a very witty remark afterwards) and I was going to leave stuck ~$2,200 but decided to play one more round and this hand came up:
1 folder and I raise from the SB w/ 2 black Kings. Everybody calls. Flop (I'm a bit hazy on which was which so I'll just say):
K-9-4 w/ 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]s
The player to my left was playing the 75 short-handed the other night and people in the 40 game I was at were saying that he was really good from the internet or somesuch.
Anyway, I bet, that player raised and a few people called. I 3-bet, he capped and the same people called. I figured somebody's got the flush draw and it's either him or he flopped an under-set.
Turn:
Black 7. I bet, he raises (under-set for sure now), the rest fold, I 3-bet, he calls.
River:
X. I bet, he calls and when he sees my hand he says: 'I would never raise pf w/ that hand. That is why I put you on Aces.'
I say 'Why not', he says 'There're too many players. If an Ace flops your finished. If you just call pf and an Ace flops you can just fold.' Me: 'Oh, I never thought of that.'
So:
Is this fellow trying to BS me or does that give me some useful insight into his thinking and playing style?
