Default Re: General Music Discussion Thread (a.k.a. indie lovefest)

last songs that played on ipod, comments:

Ratatat - The Mule [Z-ro, et al] from Remixes Vol II : saw these guys live, and they RULE. Most fun at a show ever. I actually know (and love) the original The Mule, and really like Ratatat's cover. Their style, but hip hop.

Elliot Smith - alphabet town terrible follower, [censored] you shuffe mode, skipped 2:30 later than wanted due to typing ratatat review.

[b] Cat Steven's - "track 3" [b] on greatest hits. scratched as hell (damn you girlfriend), unplayable, skipped immediately.

[b] Nat King Cole - Moonlight in Vermont [b] wanted to skip, listened while typing CS BS, then changed mind, now being soothed very nicely.

Beck - Broken Drum Didn't know I had this CD, I can't even think of a Beck tune I know. This song convinced me I should listen to him.

Break to get cooked chicken with red curry, garlic powder, black pepper, basil with strange but delicious spices introduced from a limited supply on short notice.
---

Aphex Twin - Tha (selected ambient works) : oh hell yeah.

At the Drive-In - pickpocket (in-casino-out) : ditto, except the bridge. was not digging that at all.

actually gets chicken

Animal Collective - We Tigers (sung tongs): wow. woah! gotta have some patience for this, but if boys with high voices acting and playing music like tigers is your thing you shall be handsomely rewarded. drums are great.

John Scofield - Dark Blue great because Scofield is grooves so tight but this isn't as great as other stuff I've heard him do. For maximal piano solo enjoyment gotta move around, at least bob head, rock or dance in chair. Aside: drove to Oakland and Yoshi's to see him but those [censored] didn't have my tickets at willcall, or record of their purchase. And they were sold out and wouldn't do anything for us. Sneaked a peak and there were empty tables. frustrating experience.

David Bowie - quicksand from girlfriend, surprisingly good. didn't know he was a lyricist, he's hilarious

Refused : new noise didn't have to look this one up. [[[aw hell yeah]]] ... o oo o ooooo o o oo ooo ooo ... GET UP SCREAM!

now I will enjoy on my own. that was surprisingly fun.

diablo you will notice that i said cat power first in this thread and pretty is a great description.

ps: next is the beginning of Barbara Buchholz album, wild (prussian?) thereminist, result of long-networked itunes search, downloaded on whim, and responsible now for immediate death of shuffle button. Track: Sokolniki. (buy it now)
