Things like this are in large part "ya hadda be there." Seeing the original forum conversations unfold in something like real time makes the WTF of it all stick out more, and seeing all the threads instead of one or two highlights makes a difference.

Elaine actually got a fair amount of good feedback, like when she wrote about hanging around New Orleans to help rescue pets, but she seemed pretty good at squandering goodwill and magnifying ill. Maybe she just has an attraction to the dark side.
