Truth. The one Joe Walsh did for the movie is much better.

I listened to a 30-second snippet of both of them simultaneously, and they have the exact same tempo. If there is a distinction, it's that the soundtrack version is a little more loose, a little more raw, than the more polished Eagles version. Not only is that more appropriate for the movie, but it's also typical of Joe's solo career versus the Eagles.

I didn't know that Walter Hill did Southern Comfort (another great movie), but it makes sense. Both movies tell similar tales of people trying to get home from an unfamiliar and dangerous place. Kind of modern retellings of the Odyssey.
