Players from Mali, Senegal, and Cameroon may soon be considered EU nationals. According to
As, Real Madrid are appealing to the FEF (Spanish Football Federation) asking that they count Diarra as a national because of a recent anti-discrimination treaty naming those 3 countries. They say that they would be discriminating against players from those 3 countries because if they had 3 other players from outside of Europe they would be forced to sit them more often than they otherwise would.
Seems a pretty weird argument. I'm also not familiar with an antidiscrimination case where an employer went to a government body and said "Hey guys, we're breaking this law. DO SOMETHING!" If the FEF approves their request I wouldn't be surprised if other EU countries followed suit.
