You're wrong.

First Scotty is a very charismatic person.

Second, almost everybody who has played poker has heard of him.

For the two reasons listed above, a Scotty Nguyen win (that sounds weird) would draw a lot of people to the tube to watch the WSOP. I think it would draw a certain % of players back into the game who splashed some money around during the boom. A lot of casual (or even not so casual) players would be talking about the event and perhaps encouraging coworkers, friends, or whatnot to watch the tournament on the tube.

And also, a repeat Main Event champion would bring about a lot of publicity. Many have said it is extremely unlikely to happen again with the large fields.
