Re: Tuan Le
Here's the thing. I think the likelyhood that he really is a no talent luckbox douchebag who won 3 WPT titles against arguably some of the toughest FT opponents is tantamount to being struck by lightning 3 times and living to tell the tale. Does it happen I suppose. Is it likely? No.
Everyone always says that to win a big event like the ones Tuan has won you have to 1. Play Very well 2. Get lucky several times. 3. Avoid getting unlucky several times (i.e. less bad beats than others)
If one hand can define whether someone has game or not (I think it probably can't) I would say the one where Tuan checked all three betting rounds, hit a pair on the river and still laid it down when Brenes fired at the pot. If he was the calling station that some imply, he would have called there. If I remember it was a very small bet in relation to the pot and to his stack. Even though he threw away the winning hand it suggests that he is reading his opponents with some level of care and not just shoving his chips in and sucking out.
The thing that guys like Tuan and Gus do so well. Is to make unconventional plays so often that it is literally impossible to put them on a hand.. Gus/Tuan calls a raise and reraise with 95o flop is A95 and the guy with AK gets nailed or..when Tuan/Gus doesn't have it he plays like he does and Hero throws away TPTK because of the doubt these guys have put in everyone's head.
