the money manager thing is not appropriate. it will probably take a fairly creative stroke to come up with something that is....

No it doesn't take anything creative, it just takes the knowledge that enabling is wrong. Anything you do to stop the loser from hitting bottom -- ANYTHING -- is wrong and destructive because it is another day off the person's life before they have to confront their own screw-ups and make changes. As long as people here are willing to rescue this loser from his screw-ups, he will be a loser forever. And maybe as poker players that's what you want, but don't you dare stand here and pretend that you care about him or that you're his friend while you're doing it. If you must be a vulture, be a proud vulture. Nobody who was a true friend would have started such a thread. The intent is to humiliate.
"Something nice to do for Mark" would be to treat him as a man and an equaL, not a bum in need of a hand-out. Ain't gonna happen because everyone is relishing this person's hard, hard fall from the heights.

Reading between the lines...
If you are stating that the person with the problem has to admit that they have a problem first, then I would agree with you that anything done for him or with him will not help him.
As far as the original posters intent...I'll let him speak to that...
Good luck to everyone here...2+2 has been an interesting place.
All I was offering was trying to offer some constructive ideas and not the usual crap that every spews off around here.
