After playing these some more, I'm convinced that good players do not have enough of an edge for these to be profitable in the long run.
You get under 10xBB VERY fast, you really don't get a chance to actually play much poker before then. Then, once everyone has a small stack in comparison to the blinds, they're pretty much forced to apply ICM, whether they know anything about it or not. Players get desperate, probably rightfully so, and are far looser with their calls when you do push.
Basically, the ultra-turbos turn into a coinflip fest ultra fast, so it seems that whether you win in these really comes down to how you do in the coinflips. i.e. these seem HIGHLY dependent on luck, enough where there doesn't seem to be much of an exploitable edge...just my two cents
