Default Re: intrusive neighbors driving me nuts - a very long rant

My gf bought a couple unassembled Adirondack chairs, and has been priming and painting them over the last couple weeks. So she's got random chair parts scattered around our back patio, which is circled by a ~5ft high fence.

Two weeks ago, we got a note on our back door from "The Neighbors" telling us that our back patio was filthy, and asking us to at least keep our gate closed if we were going to be so messy. The thing is, with how the gate naturally swings shut, the neighbor to the right couldn't possibly see any mess, and no other neighbors have cause to walk by. The neighbor to the left is an old woman living alone, and I have no doubt that she's just been peaking over the fence, got bored, and decided to make trouble.

When we first moved in, my gf got a note on her car telling her that covered spaces were reserved for people that paid for them. The space came with our place, so she wasn't taking up someone else's parking space, so its not like someone had a direct issue with her car being there. Some "neighbor" just decided to leave a note within a couple hours of noticing something new.

People suck, and the less involved you are with random people, the better. If you don't care what your neighbors think of you, just be short with them all the time. If its clear that you want nothing less than to interact with them, they should stop coming up to your door. You'll still have to deal with them trying to look through your windows, but I don't know how you could avoid that no matter what you do.
