Default Re: Why are Las Vegas cabbies so weird about tips?

shaniac,

"but there is no way I'm going to take 4 dances from a girl and tip her $10."

When I was younger, I used to go to strip clubs a fair amount. You tipped the girls on stage, but if you got lap dances, what you paid for the lap dance basically WAS the tip. The concept of paying for a lap dance and then tipping on top of that didn't even exist (in Houston, Atlanta, SF).

In Vegas recently (last couple of years), I've had girls ask for a tip, even after spending $100 for three dances or $200 with them for 30 minutes or whatever the VIP room deal is. Not sure if this is a recent phenomenon or a Vegas phenomenon. I generally just give them a $20 because I just want to have fun and don't care to argue.

The exception to the rule for me is when I'm hanging out w/ a cool stripper who is only charging me for a fraction of the dances she's giving. Then I tip them nicely. Oftentimes a girl will stick around for 5 or 6 songs when she only owes you 3. My last trip I had a girl do the 30 minutes for $200 and then said she didn't want to go out on the floor and would like to just stay and give me dances for free for the hour+ remaining on her shift as long as I'd give her a backrub. I gave her a $100 tip.

How much would you generally tip if you got 3 $20 lap dances from a girl? How much would you generally tip if you spent an hour with the girl in the VIP room and gave her $400? My default answer is zero in both of those cases.
