I'm in agreement here w/ the 15% for taxi rides, unless it is like a $100 car ride in which case I'll tip a 20. It also all depends on how cordial the driver is, how clean the cab is, did he offer to carry your stuff if you have any.
On to restaurants and bars, I'll tip a minimum of 20% for good solid service, and most of the time more. For absolute [censored] service I will leave 15%. I will tip bartenders anywhere from 20-25% and in some instances 30%. They remember this and the next time you go to the bar, chances are they will take care of a number of rounds for you and provide with speedy service and drinks that are stronger.
