SLC Punk (1999) was a great semi-indie film that a lot of people missed. But since it was set in the 80's I don't know if it qualifies as a "modern" teen angst film.
Honestly, though, I think that John Hughes already perfected the genre with his aforementioned films, with The Breakfast Club being his masterpiece. At a party last night I was talking to a 22 & 23 year-old, both of whom own & love that movie.

SLC punk was a great movie. I almost missed it but my sister rented it when we got together for some holiday or another.
