City buses? Forget it. Public transportation SUCKS in FL.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't imagine trying to wait for a bus or whatever in Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa/St. Pete areas.
NOT a good idea.
Do they have pick-up/drop-off anywhere near some of these casinos? Somehow I doubt it.

I haven't paid much attention to public-transportation around Florida but my guess is it's ineffective and sketchy enough to make it pretty unwise to count on it.

If you don't have a car I might suggest you are probably going to need one.

posts like this show WHY 2+2 forums does NOT REPRESENT THE AVERAGE POKER PLAYER. 2+2 is composed mostly of winning professionals and people who are pretty well off financially. not a bunch of people working at minimum wage $6 an hr jobs and without cars, and on public assistance. i would guaranttee u at least 100-200 people ride the bus to the cardrooms every day even if not all of them are on a bus route. id also be willing to make a $100 bet with anyone on this forum i could even find a casino dealer who does. i certainly did when i was at the seminole casino in ft lauderdale in 2003. i dont know how to drive, never owned a car in my life and im 38. yet i rode the bus every day to casinos in CA vegas, reno AC NJ davenport IA, and even phoenix, where its like a 8 block walk from the end of the busline to casino arizona, unless thats been improved.

FYP. Literally.

And now to address the subject matter. Florida has massive urban sprawl. As a result, cities cannot afford effective mass transit like the T, the NYC MTA subway, the DC Metro, or BART. A lot of the reason high-speed rail was canceled in this state is that the mass transit in the cities to be served was insufficient.

There are bus stops at the Hard Rock in Tampa, but many of the dog tracks and such are in very rural areas. I don't know about mass transit in Broward and Dade. If the buses work for you, good on ya! But in Tampa, it's a jopke.
