It's pretty [censored] up the way they scheduled the last two seasons. Season 3, part 1--> huge break--> Season 3, part 2--> one week break--> Season 4.
My guess is that this is related to DVD sales, and they are just trying to cash in a little more.

Actually I think they just wanted run it with Sopranos and that got delayed.
