Ameristar and Harrah's are nearby and are both good casinos with poker rooms. I can't speak to the STL versions but I assume they're about equal.
If you had a car/access to cheap transportation, I'd recommend the Plaza (shopping, restaurants, bars). Its about 45 minutes from the stadium.
