Destroy Erase Improve and Chaosphere by Meshuggah are amazing albums. Contradictions Collapse is also pretty good.

Didn't like Nothing and haven't even tried Catch 33.

Some quality technical death metal bands include Cynic, Atheist, Pestilence and later works of Death. Also unknown band called Neglected Fields from Latvia deserves to be mentioned here.

I'll go more detail about Pestilence as they never got the recognition they deserved.

They actully progressed for every album.

Debut album Malleus Maleficarum is basicly thrash, but for the followup Consuming Impulse they went into death metal direction.

Out Of The Body

I guess only the third album: Testimony Of The Ancients qualifies as tech death. This is my favourite Pestilence release. Tony Choy's (Cynic, Atheist) bass work for this album was amazing.

Land Of Tears

Last album: Spheres was also technical, but it's very jazzy and I don't like it as much as the other releases.

Overall they were amazing band and those who doesn't own any Pestilence CDs should get the Consuming/Testimony double pack re-release.
