This team is obviously worse than Pythagoras measures it. A-Rod was responsible for a large proportion of their run creation when he was on fire. Now he's cooled off and the sub-par performance of so many of the other starters is showing.

andy, i think that the point has been made in this thread that it is incredibly unlikely that abreu, giambi, damon, and cano continue to hit as they are. just about everyone who's not a-rod, posada, and jeter are not only having down years, they're having the worst years of their career and it's not even close.

this team may be putting itself in too big a hole to come back for the wild card - but a long winning streak should be expected.
