Serious blunder? Did you really tell her/imply that you'd consider "us getting together" not being "a terrible thing", which she will probably understand as "we marrying is not a terrible thing" if she is only a little as clingy as you described?!? The funny line in the sentence before is good, but I think you really stepped into a world of pain a few words later...
Edit: And "give her some time..." sounds like a minefield to me too, when said to a girl who seems to be a psycho and clingy. You give the impression that you are planning ahead in time and that these plans have BOTH of you in it...
