Posts from well-known and well-respected players may get more views, but they don't necessarily get more quality responses, or more responses period. The players capable of contributing the most to these threads don't browse MTTS often enough, the smaller players sometimes don't feel qualified to respond, and so the thread slips quickly into oblivion. I know that when I've occasionally checked in and seen something interesting (usually posted by bond or someone similar), I've been unable to find it sometimes even later the same day.

As Nath said, the posts that are most valuable aren't simple "what do I do here?" questions but tournament HH reviews, theory posts, etc. Those take a lot of time to produce, and at least in my case, I don't feel like they generate enough attention or responses to make it worth my time. This is why I've sought out new fora (2+2 magazine, my blog, AIM) for higher level tournament strategy discussion.

I don't mean to come across as an attention whore, because I'm almost as frustrated when I see high-quality posts from others that go largely ignored. It's not good for the players who are "coming up" now that the people capable of contributing the most don't read, post, or respond much anymore. Even if there is a tradeoff where better posters are posting more often but responding less to lower-stakes posts, it still seems to me that this would be on-balance better for the smaller players.

Lastly, could we please have some more respect for the mods? Justin in particular has done a ton for this forum, and I'm sure put a lot of time into it. Granted he should do a better job of explaining and defending his position, but he also deserves more credit than he's getting. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone with a better feel for what makes the MTT community "work", and if he thinks a split is a bad idea, that's enough to give me pause.
