I hear what your saying but the title of this post is "best female songwriter" ,not who is your favorite female artist. Trying to figure out who is the best at such a subjective matter is some what ridiculous. I happen to like Joni and Fiona but if you compare their discographies, the influence they have had on other artists and the respect they receive from other well respected musicians then the clear answer is Joni Mitchel.
