Re: Is anyone else shocked that 80s baseball cards are almost worthles

Anything after ~1984 was mass produced and not worth much.

Not quite true, although certainly true for many brands/years. There are some specific boxes though that are worth a bit. 85 Donruss/Fleer/Topps boxes for example that sold for $10-$20 in 85 are $100-$150 now. 87 Fleer, 89 Upper Deck, 92 Bowman, 93 UD SP, 95 Bowman and Bowman's best, those are gaining some value.
One of my favorites is the 1992 Stadium Club Hi Series football packs. Topps and the NFL had some licensing snags over players like Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, who weren't in the first two series of Stadium Club that year. So Topps eventually released a Hi Series pack, in a somewhat limited quantity. That Hi Series happened to include a certain Green Bay Packer QB as well - and that card is now more valuable than his true 91 Stadium Club rookie. Legit unopened packs that sold for probably $1 in 1992, are worth about $20 now. I have a few of them.
