Agreed. If you are talking about your actual XP login password, this doesn't really have any effect on internet security. It does have a short term effect on a random person walking by your computer and seeing your data. However, if someone has some time with your computer they will just run one of the many free programs out there to decipher your XP login password or even create a new one.

The login password is sort of like locking the door to your house. It's the smart thing to do but if a burglar wants in, all he has to do is break a window.

As for security, you won't find many fans of Norton here, but at least you're using an AV. A good AV, Spybot, Adaware, and a router between your cable/dsl modem and your computer is about all you should need.
