It was insane when he had all those walks and shattered Ruths walks records.
He was routinely being walked with first base occupied, or a nobody on 2 out situation he was being int'ed.
In 2004 he had 232 walks in 147 games. I believe he had more walks than some entire teams did. Not sure on that though.
I'll never forget that game in the late 90's where Showalter (managing the D-backs) intentionally walked him with the bases loaded up 3 runs in the 9th inning.
I doubt this has ever happened in the modern era of baseball, except to Bonds.
Brent Mayne followed with a line out to right field to end the game, Giants losing by two.
