i honestly think it depends on what the girl thinks about/views the OP as. If he is a "i guess i know this kid, weird" type of thing" then the whole myspace thing might just be weird. Some random guy that hasen't talked to you in like 2 years spamming flirty messages on myspace? Just dosen't sound right to me.

However, maybe starting off with a message in myspace, then after she responds, ask for her aim/msn/ect and go from there. After about 1 min on aim, you can tell if she wants nothing to do with you, which could save you a lot of time.
