Five frat kids sit around a keg. They are drunk. One insults the other. The other shoots the first. Everyone else kills the original killer, then kill each other.

Jesus, think through your arguments slightly.

I went to extremes. Tone it back a bit and realise how ridiculous it is to think giving kids guns is gonna make said kids safer.

Who's talking about giving kids guns??

Everyone in here who is pro gun (there was one dude who specifically said it, cant remember his name and im mid reply).

If not, how will they defend themselves with a gun?

If guns are able to help you defend yourself, you should have the gun at all times. If these kids were to have a wild west shootout reminiscent of the OK Carral, then surely they need to have their barking iron by their side at all times.

Right?

Oh, and if you mean kids as in children, i define late teens early 20s as kids. Im 23 and i consider myself a kid. I remarked in the car to my dad today its rare for shootings to happen at colleges, and normally happen at high schools. Arm high school kids too?

Phill ... you act as if your idea of what is right here is so obvious, yet discounts so many of the pro-gun arguments. I am sure that they will come up in the thread, but I'd like to put one of your argument to rest.

Kennesaw, Georgia. In 1982, the town passed an ordinance that required all citizens (about 23,000 at the time), to own a gun with ammunition. The law has been amended to loosen it a little over time, but it still stands.

Per your logic, Kennesaw should be the most dangerous place in the world to live. And, there should be all sorts of husbands shooting wives, and accidental shootings of children. Shock of shocks, there has not been a single reported crime of domestic violence in Kennesaw since the law was passed. There have been no injuries to children involving guns since the law was passed.

Furthermore, violence has actually dropped since 1982. Burglaries per thousand inhabitants fell from 11 to less than 3. There hasn't been a single murder since 1986. All this despite the fact that the population in Kennesaw doubled in that time.

Some might argue this is a small sample size. You can't do that because you have asserted that size doesn't matter.

Argue your anti-gun side. That is okay. But don't come across as if we are all a bunch of morons because we believe in the right to own and use guns. We may not come to a consensus, but it isn't an open and shut case as I am guessing you are about to find out.
