This is total Nirvana snobbishness but Nevermind was like their third best studio album. But I suppose in some sense it was pretty important.

It wasn't important at all. I'm sick of this sentiment. It was, however, a really good album.

I've never been a particulaly big Nirvana fan, but seriously, Nevermind was one of the most culturlly important albums of all time. It was not the first grunge record. Nirvana was hardly the first decent grunge band. But Nevermind was the album that was the first grunge most of America had ever heard, and the album that brought grunge into the mainstream, and to the masses. I'd have to say it's definitely among the top 20 definitive albums of all time.

Is it as good as In Utero? Hell, I don't think it's as *good* as half the Foo Fighters stuff. But it sure as hell is definitive.
