True story, took place at Sands week it closed for business.
I am at craps table early Fri am, this old guy is there just burning through stacks of red. Finally, he's down to his last $5 chip.
He tosses it on 'yo', 11, at 15-1 odds, of course. Loving a good -EV bet at the craps table, I do the same.
He shouts out 50/50 tip for the dealers. So do I, as this guy is clearly a pro at going busto, and I got at least $50 left in front of me in reds.
The new shooter throws an 11. Winner-winner pay the line pay the line. I cheer and take down my winnings. Now he and the dealers will split $75.
'Press it!' he yells. The boxman thinks for a minute, and says, 'we'll press ours too.'
Shooter throws another 11. Winner! Pay the line!!
Now the shooter and dealers are splitting $1125.
Dealers take $560 down, attempt to pay the old man his $565.
"Press it!" he yells out like the degenerate gambler he so truly is. I was totally awestruck. The whole table is watching him, speechless. I throw $5 back on yo-leven at this point. [I'm slow, but I'm not stupid.]
Now everyone is staring at the shooter again.
It should be obvious what happens next.
The shooter rears back and chucks his third 11 in a row. I get $75, the old man finally takes down his $8475 or whatever, and walks into the sunrise with his stack of orange and purple chips. I hope he went to Cheetah's, or at least Lil' Darlings.
I think he even left $75 behind as a final 50/50 on yo for the dealers. It didn't hit this time, needless to say.
