Dunno how the rest of y'all do things, but I would donate a lot more playing -EV games in the casinos while I was waiting for a seat in the poker room if I could play until my poker seat was available.

I think the biggest example of this management and marketing error is found at the Venetian in Vegas, and at The Borgata in AC. The Borgata's poker room is a behemoth, on scale with Commerce's main room. We used to joke that it takes 5 minutes to walk from one side to the other. The Borgata's error is the amount of dead space in the room, and at the entrance - why isnt there any table games available for poker players to spend time at while they are waiting for their seat? A bit more than a year ago I met with the Wynn VP of Marketing, she explained that the poker room is planned to be moved into the middle of the pit once Encore opens, surrounded on all sides by blackjack tables. Research has shown that card games in general are progressions for many gamblers, they progress from one game to another. There would be the obvious loss of some blackjack players to poker, but the gain of poker players to blackjack would far outweigh the theoretical loss. (I don't know if this is still Wynn's plan for the future, but it is certainly an ambitious concept!).
Now back to the Venetian. The area around the entrance of the poker room is devoid of any game that a poker player is normally interested in. There is no video poker, no blackjack, and its a hike to get to the sports book - all huge mistakes, because there will always be a reduced chance of cross-over gaming from poker players at the Venetian accordingly. In fact since the room is so huge with lots of dead space it would make sense to put two blackjack tables in the lounge! Keep the customers happy!
Cliff notes: Casino management needs to wake up, by not putting table games next to the poker room they are ignoring new revenue streams.

This gives me a great idea (for the casino, not necessarily the poker room). Have poker tables where each spot has a built in video poker or slot game that you can play while seated at the poker table. May slow down the games, but casino's revenue would increase, and would attract more action junkies to the games.
