Re: WPT should be sued

LOL at olivert trying to train-wreck this thread!!
The question for me is - if Doyle was in the final two and had a stroke or heart attack, what would they do? Would people be saying "he shouldn't be playing poker at his age - it's stressful, bad for your health, he should know he's at risk as a old man, it's so irresponsible" ? I'm guessing the WPT would pause the tournament and/or make some kind of deal, which means that there's a pretty strong discrimination going on.

No, they would do just what they did in this case. Pause the tourney for a few minutes, see if the situation can be resolved immediately, but if not, let the poor victim be blinded off or have the stack removed. For all the reasons so many people have already said, you don't just stop a major event and put it on pause for days/weeks. But yes, they should give someone 30 minutes or an hour to try to recover from some temporary problem. At some point, though, the show must go on. The only reason postponing in this case is conceivable is because it was just two players; if this happened with 6 players left would everyone still be insisting that the other 5 should put it all on hold and come back to resume play days/weeks/months later when everyone could reschedule? And what about the poor player who between now and then gets ill and can't return on the rescheduled day and finds themselves being blinded out? It's just too unfair to the other players to ask them to postpone because one person is incapacitated.
Reading now that JJ was 4mo pregnant, I don't believe it's irresponsible for her to play. I read she was "very pregnant" and to me that means 8mo or 9mo; I think if a woman plays very close to her due date, she's taking her chances and if nature calls it's unfortunate, but them's the lumps. 4mo pregnant isn't "very" pregnant in my book and playing poker at 4mo is not a particularly troublesome thing. 2nd trimester is a pretty safe period during a pregnancy and sitting at a poker table isn't a terribly abnormal sorta activity.
