Again, as J.J. Liu's agent, I ask the 2+2 audience to please refrain from posting insensitive remarks or taking cheap shots at J.J., Dan Alspach, or myself in order to justify your existence.
At this time, I cannot comment on the specifics of the situation beyond what was already reported by the media.
Please respect J.J. and Dan's need for privacy. Thank you very much.

I am somewhat suprised to see your comment Oliver. I agree this is a very serious and sensitive subject. BUT how can you possibly be serious about posting this? You are a very vocal member in NVG. You of all people should know that this is a very valid thread thats should be discussed. I'm not saying that certain comments should be said, but that is 2+2. Some kids get off at being cruel.

I simply ask 2+2 participants to "think", just a little bit, before posting something insensitive and/or taking their daily cheap shots at either J.J., Dan, or myself.
I don't think that was too much to ask.

What about cheap shots against WPT or Ted?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ted Forrest has earned the respect of a lot of people in the poker world. He handled the situation as an innocent bystander in a sportsman-like manner.
I made sure that I congratulated Ted on the TV set while he was waiting for his "money shot" before I left Bay 101 on Saturday morning to go to the medical facility.
Friday night/Saturday morning was Ted's night. He had worked hard over the years and endured his share of setbacks in order to reach the pinnacle. Ted deserves the accolades and the respect from the poker world for finally breaking through on the WPT after nearly 5 years.

I am continuing to take the "high road", as much as I can, in this situation. Given that I am only "hired help", my hands are tied somewhat.
I understand that I am considered "fair game" by some 2+2 participants because, in my previous role as a freelance poker writer, I took positions that many in the industry perceived as hostile and/or threatening to the industry.
Note that the economic interest of the poker industry is not necessary the same as the economic interest of the players. There are many instances the industry and the players are in conflict, and these conflicts will need time and effort to be resolved. I believe it is healthy for the industry for these conflicts to be out in the open and be covered extensively by the media so that both sides in a particular conflict will feel some urgency to resolve their differences.
I had always taken the position of the PLAYER's advocate. That hasn't changed even after I traded in a media badge for a blazer and a tie. My economic interest as an agent now is still aligned with the players I represent: J.J. Liu for online poker exclusively, J.C. Tran non-exclusively on one small project so far, and possibly 2 other players with international language skills that I am working to sign at this time.
