I'm not calling everyone in 2+2 a degen, its just the probability that someone is a degen increases greatly by the fact that they post on an internet poker forum, and exponentially that they post asking for monetary help on an internet poker forum.

And you people are all ridiculous saynig the people that thought it was a scam should have pmd gild! Say hypothetically, I do do that, and he (for whatever reason or not) agrees with me n stops the fund raising. It turns out to be legit, and Mrs. Vig dies. I would have to deal with that guilt. It is far much more easy to say nothing, mention it to a few of my friends, and then say "I told you so." when the drama comes out :P.

I think you're wrong, Degenerate gamblers by definition don't care about working to try to win like we do. They blame all their losses on bad luck and never think to try and learn something about the game. Nobody discovers 2+2 for BBV. I first came here to try and learn how to beat 25NL, not post in BBV. I would bet lots of money that the rate of degeneracy among avid 2+2ers is lower than the rate among the non-thinking poker populace.

I donated a small amount on FTP with the full knowledge that there was a risk involved. 800 posts is a lot just to pull some scam together, so I felt like that risk was low. Don't act like we're fools because we decided that the risk was worth it.

Interesting point on the degeneracy thing. I would think that an avid 2+2 poster is more likely to be a degenerate because of how immersed they are in poker at all times. I wonder what an actual study would prove, lol. I think that there are some thinking players, very big winners, that are still degenerates. They just so happen to be good at the game.
