Yeah, I actually meant to mark this as an old problem but forgot. I had never figured out exactly why it happened--

When you search your buddy list and see a few at the table, you have to have that type of game in the lobby in order to open the table.

ie: If your buddy is playing a $50 SnG, you have to have the SnG's clicked in the lobby. If he's playing a fixed limit game, you have to have fixed limits clicked in the lobby.
