In all these types of threads, in this same discussion time after time...I'm always really disappointed by the lack of love that Duane Allman receives...
Rolling Stone recently did a top 100 of all time. Allman was #2 (after Jimi). Personally, I like Allman even better, but there's no denying Jimi's talent. The fact that he's not even been mentioned in this thread though is really unfortunate.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Since you are an Allman fan, have you seen or heard Derek Trucks? He's absolutely incredible and in my opinion is a legitimate candidate for any top 5 greatest guitarist list of all time.

Do I know Derek? Sheeit...I've seen him a couple times, and definitely follow the Allmans recent stuff....I'm actually hoping to see him at this blues on the hill thing in DC in a month or two...should be great...
But anyway, you're right, Derek will be one of the best ever by the time he's old enough to receive an award like that...
(I got his autograph after a concert in MA for my younger brother, who's quite the guitar prodigy himself. He was one of the nicest performers I've ever met.)
BTW, that solo on rockin horse, is awesome...the chromatics he just pulls out of nowhere are great....
also, if you like his playing, please tell me you've seen the don't keep me wonderin solo off this same beacon dvd?
If you have, then you need to check out Duane's original solo on this...its just amazing...seriously, pm me if you haven't heard it...
