My contention is not they are wrong just that they will never be "great" players, or succeed at higher limits where higher variance is inevitable. In the 8 game people are loose aggressive in a very exploitable way. If a player cannot handle the variance in this game they most likely will not be able to succeed at 30/60 or above.

higher limit games dont play like the 8/16 game... though the variance could be similar

This is obvious, and my basic point that learning to deal with variance as a precursor to success at higher limits still stands.
