Re: Neteller Update...

The people who are involved in the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) have our best interests at heart, but since they have no "pull" whatsoever with the crooked politicians, they are of very little use.
The horse racing industry, tobacco/alcohol lobbies, etc, have "anted" up for quite a long time filling political coffers with cash and have proven that enough money buys government access.
Sites like Party Poker, Poker Stars, Pinnacle Sports, etc, had plenty of extra cash lying around but simply refused to pay for the access because they thought they were out of reach being based offshore. Unfortunately, for all of us, they were wrong.

Exactly.... I sent an email to all the major sites immediately after the UIGEA passed through the House (well before it was law) urging them to form a coalition (or just pony up on their own) and back a top lobbying firm in Washington to fight this...
The lobbyists would have had myriad ways to attack the absurdity of this bill. At worst case they would have gotten a carveout for poker...
It would have taken a large chunk of money considering all the big players that were in favor of the UIGEA, but in reality a mere pittance compared to what they have cost themselves...
The lobbyists have all the power in Washington. None of these sites had any clue as to how US laws are passed. They made the fatal mistake of thinking it might be based on some sort of sound rationale...
