Ask them if they go to the gym, or play any sports. The fat ones will see through it and get offended by the question, and athletic ones will be only too happy to tell you that they're in great shape.

The ones who will fall through the cracks are the thin girls who aren't active. These are mostly bulemics, though, and they're not much fun...unless you're into bad breath and rotting teeth, that is.
